Introducing Nataleigh Jo

Nataleigh made her debut today at Shannon Byrd Photography! She's the pretty little baby girl of our friends, Josh & Serena. She was so sweet and did a good job modeling in front of my new back drop! I LOVE this drop!

Jada-Kate

Last Saturday, Jada-Kate came to see me for her 3 month appointment (though she turned 5 months the next day). She was all smiles and did a great job. Here's a picture of her with her dad, Tim. Tim, Rebecca, and Jada-Kate, stayed the afternoon with us and went to church with us Saturday night. Several others from Skyline, Alabama (where Tim and Rebecca go to church), came down for church that evening and then came over to the house afterwards where we set-up out in the studio and picked guitars, played pianos, bowed fiddles, clapped hands, stomped feet, and sang until after midnight! We had a great time visiting wtih all of the Gray's, Wright's, and others who came out!

Hayden

Hayden came back to see me yesterday afternoon so that we could add a couple more shots to her 3 month (4 month) session. She did such a great job and was more comfortable on her belly this time than she was last time. I was so glad to get these great shots to go along with the rest of her session! Nakomi

What a precious itty bitty baby!!! Nakomi came to see me for the first time today; and we had a great session! She's already three weeks old; but she is SO tiny - and beautiful!!! She's a special baby for me, because her mom and dad, Brian and Kristin, were my first wedding clients after I started photographing weddings professionally. I shot that wedding with my good old Hasselblad, which now has a prize spot on a shelf in my office! Man - I can't even remember for sure, what year that was right now? 2003, maybe? Anyhow, it was great to be a part of another momentous occassion in Brian and Kristin's lives! Here are a couple of previews from today's session (click to enlarge)!

Parker

We had a great session last Saturday with Parker! It would be hard to say which shot is my favorite! Parker is the one year old son of my first cousin, Michelle, and her husband, Wade. It was my first time to use my new gray backdrop; and I loved it! Parker did a great job too; and Michelle brought some great outfits for him! Folks - clothing choices are going to make the difference in your portraits! It's always best to discuss this with me prior to your session; and it's always great to bring some extra outfits so that we can choose with will look best for the session! Anyhow, here's a few previews for Parker!

A Beautiful Woman

Ya'll want to see what keeps my business running? This lovely woman right here! For anyone who doesn't know, this is my wife, Kellie. Aint' she gorgeous, folks??!! If it wasn't for her support and encouragement, there's no way I could accomplish half of what I get done. Aside from being a full time mother and housewife, she's also my shipping/receiving department, my errand runner, my secretary, my photography assistant, my critic, and everything else you can think of! Now if I can just train her to take the pictures, I'll be all set! Anyhow, just wanted to show her off a little bit and let her know how much I appreciate all she does! Love you baby!

So far behind!

It seems like I am months behind! I've just finished proofing a wedding and a 3 month old session for Hayden; and now I've got two more 3 month sessions to finish - Jacob and Gracie. Hayden and Jacob's sessions were last Saturday and held here in the studio. Gracie's session was yesterday; and I traveled to her home in New Market, Alabama, to do those. All three of these babies joined Baby Steps around the same time, so it's fun to watch them grow together (yet at much different rates!). So here's a few previews for you Mommas and Daddies!

Sawyer came in to the studio today ready to work the camera! He is such a pretty little boy (yes, I said "pretty"); and has such a wonderful demeanor! Sawyer came with his mother, Ashley, and his grandmother, Karen; and it was great to see them too! Here are a few samples of our shoot today!

Congrats, Ashley & Joe!!!

Tonight I had the honor of photographing the wedding ceremony of Joseph Freeman and Ashley Smothers. Ashley is the daughter of Alan and Angela Smothers; and Joseph is the son of Verlon and Donna Freeman. The wedding was held at the Old Sardis Holiness Church in Dekalb County, Alabama, with a lovely reception immediately following in the church's fellowship hall. Congrats, Ashley & Joe; and Kellie and I wish you many years of happiness and prosperity to come!

Ally

Meet my newest Baby Steps member, Ally. She is the daughter of Dennis and Miranda, whose wedding I photographed 4 or 5 years ago. Ally also has a big sister, Auburn, who is as cute as a button! Here are a few shots that I've processed today.

Today I had the priviledge of photographing Miss Anna for the first time! Anna is the daughter of our good friends, Billy and Danielle; and she is an absolute real life China doll! She is precious; and we had so much fun in our session with her today! Here's a sneak peak of a few portraits.

Zilah

My second appointment for the day was little Miss Zilah, who has also turned one year old! Here are a couple of samples of great posing she did today!

Alec

It's hard to believe that Alec is now ONE year old! I remember so well the day he was born (he was a WHOPPER)!! He belongs to some of our best friends, Ashley & Brooke; and he is one of my best little buddies! Here are a few samples of Alec's one year session, which we did in our studio today.

So this is Christmas...

Merry Christmas, everybody! I hope you all have had a great day so far (it's 9:30 a.m. here)! The kids are up and playing with their toys. I just finished cutting up the ham that's been cooking overnight. We'll soon start getting cleaned-up to welcome our parents and grandparents in for diner. Life is sweet this morning! The girls (especially Mackenzie) was thrilled to see Butterscotch the horse standing in front of our tree this morning. She must have been especially good for Santa to bring such a great gift! ;) And while all of these wonderful things are occuring right before my eyes, I can't help but think of those who aren't as fortunate this morning. I guess it must come with age; but it takes Christmas to a bittersweet level for me. Let us all take time to remember the birth of our Savior this morning, and to count our blessings in life. Merry Christmas folks.

Finally! Good pics of MY kids!

Picture day at the Byrd House is as challenging as convincing my kids that the dentist is their friend! Why is that? Here I am, a professional photographer; and my own kids are my biggest challenge. Well it turns out, that a lot or pro's will tell you the same thing about their kids. Anyhow, we had a great showing for our efforts yesterday in South Pittsburg. Mackenzie was ready to model (though her suspected ADD made it hard to keep her mind on things) - but Makayla informed me from the time she woke up yesterday morning that she didn't want to get her picture made! Oh well, we managed to get some good ones of her anyhow! So, here are a few; and you can view all 87 images on my website by going to the proofing section and entering the password byrd2.
